To the surprise of many, CrossCode has been treated to a native PlayStation 5 version that is available right now. Head on over to the PS Store and you'll be able to purchase the current-gen edition for £15.99/$19.99, but concrete details are very scarce at the time of writing. What fans have worked out is that the game offers a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade, but you won't be able to transfer your save between the two consoles. The download is also only 569MB, which is sort of insane when you consider the PS4 version is 3.29GB.
While it hasn't been confirmed just yet, the Xbox Series X version of CrossCode runs at up to 120 frames-per-second, so the feature is likely to carry over to PS5 too. We'll update this article once we receive more information. And if you enjoy the base game either on PS4 or through this updated version, there's some DLC on its way this summer. Titled A New Home, it will add a new dungeon and "new enemies, boss fights, and music tracks to enjoy". It is said to contain eight to 10 hours of content.
Will you be checking out CrossCode on PS5? Let us know in the comments below.

Yes! Devs are starting to handle that SSD very well! So glad to see that!
Just looked at the Pushsquare PS4 review.
Of the 2 negatives, one is "Menus are a little slow to load."
So I assume that's fixed on the PS5 version then.
The size different is crazy lol, can't wait for all of 3rd party devs to use ps5 ssd compression tech.
Got to say, a great game. I played it on Switch and it ran well but I'm sure it will benefit from the terraflops of the PS5. Love to get it again but still hunting for the PS5...
Nice to know it got native PS5 version. I'll get to it one day.
Got this on Switch. Not sure if I should 'switch' to the PS5 version
Played it on PC Game Pass. Basically where I play most Indies now. It was ok.
Very nice on the file size and the free upgrade. This has been a great upgrade cycle when it comes to gamers not getting cheated on their game investment.
@Olmaz Exactly my thoughts when I read that too — hopefully games of +100gb will slowly become a thing of the past... although I imagine that'll be offset/balanced by the sheer size of games as they increase!
What a game this is, and it is massively helped by running at 60fps and near instant loading of menus / areas. Marvellous
Due to the compression mechanism that the PS5 has.
